Inspired by a ballet I saw on pbs based off of Hans Christian Anderson’s, The Little Sea Maid, I painted this dramatic depiction of the moment of transformation. In the ballet (as well as the original story) the Sea Maid not only had to undergo an agonizing transformation but also experienced needle-sharp pains in her new fee with every step.
