Class: Drawing Through Mia

Fridays, March 22- April 12.
(All levels of experience) Have you ever wanted to learn more about the wealth of artwork and history contained within the walls of the Minneapolis Institute of art? Have you ever wanted to sketch works by great artists from different times and cultures but not known where to start? In this class students will explore art through time and space as we learn about and draw some of the masterpieces from Mia. In each class, students will receive a lecture on a specific piece of artwork, addressing what makes that piece beautiful and valuable, from the techniques and artist process, to the socio-economic and religious context. Students will then, with the guidance of the instructor, be free to draw from any piece of art in that room for the remainder of the class period. So bring your favorite drawing medium and your learning cap and get ready to experience some great art!
For those students who attended Drawing through Mia in 2018, this class will feature a brand new set of artwork.
Students should bring their own drawing materials (pencils and/or colored pencils) and a hard surface to work on.
