After my mom (figure on the left) graduated college she went on an art history trip to Italy and I thought it would be fun to paint one of the snap shots she has of herself in Italy while I was studying abroad. Although I was in Florence, not Venice, while I painted this piece, there was something special about having time to reflect on both of us experiencing that country at around the same age.
